Is an electric fondue better than a non electric fondue?
Is there a notable difference between the two types of fondue sets. Also, does anyone have any recommendations on a nice fondue set?

Candle power tends to run too hot!
I believe the electric ones regulate the heat better.
I can’t help you on a set as what is available here may not be available in whatever country you live.
well the big differences would be thermonstat or no thermostat. probaally only difference
I must say I do enjoy Fondue and yes electric to me far surpasses the open flame method. You can really control the heat. The flame versions do have a damper to reduce the heat but more often than not you end up putting the flame out.
If you have kids around using them open flames are an invitation to put the food into the fire rather than then fixings in the bowl.
Not sure what your budget is. I love the one by Trudeau because it has metal handles. I like them much better than plastic ones.
Be sure to pick up a fondue book. There are some wonderful recipes out there
