5 Easy Calorie Burners for a Snowy Day

Burning calories and weight loss in general is a lot easier in the summer time isn’t it? Going out for a nice long walk is a lot more inviting when the trees are green and the birds are chirping then when the ground is frozen and the sky is grey. How then, can you stay on your weight loss goals during the winter without dreading every minute of your workout?
Here are 5 easy calorie burners for a snowy day. After all, a lot of the country just got their first dose of the white stuff over the weekend, so what better time then now.
1.) Make a snow angel – you’re not going to burn off the eggnog that you drank, but it will get you moving in the right direction.
2.) Snowball fight: I heard a rumor that my sister and her family had a snowball fight this weekend in the first storm of the year. It’s a lot of fun and a great workout, throwing and dodging snowballs couldn’t be better exercise. Plus it lets you de-stress a bit too and who couldn’t use that right?
3.) Building a snowman. What you haven’t built a snowman since you were a kid? What better time then now to build one. Not only is it fun and good exercise, but it will also add a certain something to your holiday decorations.
4.) Go Snowshoeing: My wife, mother and step-father and I did this a couple of years ago for the first time and we loved it. We went on a trip in Stowe, VT that ended with cheese fondue, which might have been counterproductive, but snowshoeing is GOLD when it comes to working out.
5.) Sledding: Up and down and up and down and up and down the hill you go until you can’t sled any more. The ride down is worth the hike up and it is so fun to go flying through the air off of a jump.
Enjoy these fun filled snowy activities and you can blow off your workout for a day or two and trust me you’ll be looking forward to the next snowfall not dreading it getting in the way of your workout.
