3 Fondue Recipes You’ll Love
When it comes to fondue there are three basic recipes that you need to try. Since fondue came back in style there have been all kinds of new interesting recipes that are a fusion of many different cultures and ingredients. But if you want to try traditional fondue, the way it’s been made for many years, here are three fondue recipes that you will love.
Classic Cheese Fondue
1/2 pound Emnenthaler Cheese (shredded)
1/2 pound Gruyeye (shredded)
1 clove Garlic
2 cups Dry White Wine
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
2 tablespoons Flour
3 tbs Kirsch
1/4 teaspoon White Pepper
Nutmeg and/or Paprika to taste
In a bowl add the flour to the cheeses and toss to coat evenly
Rub the inside of the fondue pot with the garlic clove and add clove to pot
Heat up the White Wine & Lemon Juice – do not boil
Reduce heat to low and slowly add cheese while stirring
Slowly add remainder of ingredients while stirring
If fondue is too loose add more cheese
If fondue is too stiff add more wine
To Dip: Crusty bread cut into bite-sized cubes, Vegetables – Broccoli, Cauliflower, Bell Peppers, etc.
Basic Hot Oil Fondue (Bourguignonne)
Peanut Oil (enough to fill your fondue pot 1/2 way)
Heat oil to 325-350 degrees in a stainless steel or cast iron fondue pot
Spear dipping ingredients with fondue fork and slowly dunk into hot oil for 1 to 3 minutes
Serve with at least three dipping sauces (BBQ, Asian, Bearnaise Sauce, Horseradish Sauce, etc)
To Dip: Meat cut into cubes about 3/4″ (beef, pork, chicken, etc)
Basic Chocolate Fondue
8 oz Premium Chocolate (chopped)
1 cup Whipping Cream
2 teaspoon Grand Marnier (optional)
Over low flame, heat Cream until warm – do not boil
Slowly add chocolate while stirring
Mixture will become smooth
Stir in liqueur
To Dip: Strawberries, Banannas, Apple Slices, Pound Cake, Angel Food Cake, Pretzels, Pineapple Chunks, Marshmallows, Potato Chips and anything else. Everything tastes great dunked in chocolate.
