Chalmers Chocolate Spoons Up Sweet Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Chalmers Chocolate Spoons Up Sweet Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Chattanooga, TN (PRWEB) February 9, 2006
Megan Cohn loves her husband. She also loves chocolate. What began as a Friday night family tradition to go with ice cream and TV is now her business. This year for Valentine’s Day, she’s sharing some of her favorite ideas for creating a luscious, romantic day from simple, delicious recipes, to mood setting home accents.
The Chattanooga-based company produces two amazing all-natural flavors, Original Dark Chocolate and Mint Chocolate, both made with the finest European cocoas and natural ingredients. The result is a dense, ganache-like sauce perfect to spoon, melt, spread or dip.
The Food
The Easiest Fondue Ever
Simply melt Chalmers Chocolate Original Dark Chocolate in either a double boiler or fondue pot (careful not to microwave it as it ruins the texture). Serve with cut up pineapple, apples, pears, pound cake and your favorite cookies.
Divine Mint Hot Chocolate
To prepare, heat one cup of milk per person to scald – avoiding bringing milk to a boil. Add 2 Tbs. Chalmers Chocolate Mint per 1 cup of hot milk. Stir, and adjust to taste. Pour mixture into hot chocolate bowls. Serve hot with fresh whipped cream and a mint leaf to garnish.
Simple & Splendid Sandwich Cookies
Spread shortbread rounds or thin chocolate wafer cookies with a layer of the Chalmers Chocolate of your choice and press another on top to create simple, splendid treats. Arrange them on a cake plate to present as a special Valentine’s treat before or after dinner
Sweet & Savory
This amazing treat brings together sweet and savory in a seductive dance. Grab a thin, crusty baguette from your favorite bakery. Slice the bread thinly. Spread a generous layer of Chalmers Chocolate Original Dark Chocolate on the slices and sprinkle lightly with a few grains of coarse sea salt (or Hawaiian – for a subtle red accent) on the center of each slice for an amazing mix of flavors.
The Mood
-Print passages of your favorite poems on white, linen paper. Singe the edges of the poems for an aged look. Leave these bits of love around the room and tack one to the front door. -Toss red scarves over your (non-halogen) lampshades for a sensuous, lounge-y look.
-Fill votive candle holders with cinnamon red hots and nestle red or gold candles inside. Pepper the room with these for a romantic glow.
-Set the tone with sexy music, like classics from Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughn, or with something more contemporary like the lush new Cherry by Lisa Shaw, Sharper Image’s Bliss compilation, or Martina McBride’s exclusive My Heart CD from Hallmark.
-Don’t forget to sprinkle a few rose petals on the pillows.

I got this cool second-hand fondue pot from friends in Switzerland. I know some other people intending on getting expensive Swiss watches as their parting souvenir, but this was the perfect for me. It was from Brockiland, this flea-market style store that I visited too often to just browse and kill some time. Credit to Loic for the idea and Leo for execution!

American Kobe Beef “Sliders”, Three Ways

Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato // Kalbi-Glazed, Wasabi Aioli // Roquefort Blue Cheese Fondue at the St. Regis’ Motif Restaurant in Southern Cali…
According to Serious Eats, "…And here I will repeat, a Kobe burger is always, always a bad idea. When cooked rare to medium-rare, as most chefs who put these on their menus usually recommend, the texture inevitably renders as mushy. It’s like moist cat food on a bun, with the meat oozing out the sides and back as you try to eat the burger. Why turn a glorious piece of beef into minced meat?
Kobe burgers are most often seen in mini-hamburger form, usually as an "appetizer" plate of three burgers, because A) this expensive beef is more affordable in smaller, sharable portions and B) the Kobe/Wagyu and the min-burger/"slider" trends seem to have peaked at the same time. Thankfully, both manias seem to have abated and you don’t hear as much about these ill-conceived lil’ ditties anymore."
Unfortunately, i have to agree. These weren’t the best tasting burgers. Iono how cat food tastes, but I see where they’re going w/ it…

I have a love/hate relationship with this kitchen.
Good points – I think it looks fairly nice, is a bit unusual and is very large for a terraced house.
Bad points – It’s white and most of it is exposed brick which makes it absolute hell to clean. The kitchen tops are green tiles. You can only imagine the colour of the grout on close inspection. On the face of it the ‘breakfast bar’ seems like a good idea but we never sit at it and it takes up too much space which means when we have visitors over we have to drag a drop leaf table (at the end of the breakfast bar) in to the living room. Oh, and the floor is freezing! It is tiled with the same floor tiles as Meadowhall shopping centre (the bloke who built it also worked on Meadowhall when that was built and ‘acquired’ some tiles! Lol)
This is one of those things that I’d love to change but it would cost a fortune and we might be moving next year so I’ll just have to make sure it’s clean and sort the grout out!!
PS. This is what we inherited from the previous owners. I wouldn’t moan about a kitchen that I’d picked. Oh no! Lol.

Do you fondue? 101/365
We went to The Melting Pot today. I owe it to The Totally Rad Show for originally giving me the idea. One day Mindy and I were talking about it and mom overheard us. It took a little while but oh my was it worth the wait. A few words. HOLY WOW THAT WAS AWESOME! Best dinner I’ve had in a VERY long time. That place is freaking amazing! Oh a few more words search and rescue spoon liquid fire and whoa Oreo dessert! it’s a place for special occasions…maybe every other really special occasion even. What a day. What a dinner. Loving life 24/7
