A Thorn Between Two Roses … Dancing Fondue Party

We are eating traditional cheese fondue right now.
Instead of drinking wine with it, we decided to have a beer.
But my wife swears she heard this causes the cheese to congeal or congest in your stomach. Is this true? Does beer have a different effect than wine?

Is there a notable difference between the two types of fondue sets. Also, does anyone have any recommendations on a nice fondue set?
