  • I, like most of the other people who reviewed this product, am very disappointed. I received this item as a gift and cannot return it. I would love to use it but without any instructions, am finding it impossible to figure out. Can someone who has had a positive experience with this item please tell me how to use this thing? Shouldn’t there be some type of holder for the fuel? My search on-line for any instructions has not produced anything but frustration!

  • I would like to express my concern of this product to whom it may concern. I recently purchased this product and there were no instructions in the box to say if it could be placed directly onto the stove to heat up the oil. Since I was not sure I heated the oil to 375 degrees and then proceeded to pour it into the fondue pot. Unfortunately, as I was pouring it I accidentaly poured the hot oil onto my hand causing severe second degree burns over my entire hand. I think that you should please address this issue so that no one has to go thru the pain and discompfort that I have had to endure the last 3 weeks. Sincerely Concerned, James L Dibble

  • I, like the previous reviewer, received this fondue pot for Christmas. However, I absolutely love it. It’s easy to put together, it took all of about 40 seconds to do…It doesn’t come with instructions, but if you look at the picture on the box, it’s pretty self explanatory….it doesn’t take a genious to figure out. I love Michael Graves, so the retro design is so perfect. The sauce rack makes it easy to serve a variety of different dips for your fondue or the sauce rack can be easily removed and the pot can be used without it. As far as recipes go, it is true that the pot does not come with any, but most fondue pots do not. If you don’t know a thing about fondu then I would recomend going out and buying a cookbook for an extra 10-20$ or so. Fondu is pretty self explanatory….unless you want to get really fancy you don’t really need a recipe. I think this pot is a great buy.

  • My biggest problem with this so far was getting it out of the box. All of the parts were in little bags but vacuum sealed together as one unit. I had to tear and shread all the plastic to pieces before I could get the parts seperated. I even tried to pry them apart with a screw driver before spending 20 minutes tearing the plastic into pieces. As most others, it gives no directions, specifically with heating. I see now that you can contact Wilton to get instructions, but why do I as the consumer have to jump through hoops to get something that is pretty standard when you purchase anything. I mainly wanted it for the look and design which I am happy with.

  • I received this as a wedding gift and was also concerned about not having instructions. I contacted the Customer Service department at Target.com, and was directed to the Wilton site to ask for instructions (www.wilton.com). They are the manufacturers of the Fondue Pot. I e-mailed the Customer Service department of Wilton with the e-mail address provided on the Wilton web site, and included my mailing address and desire for an instruction booklet for the Michael Graves fondue pot. They were very happy to mail me a copy of the instructions for the fondue pot.

I found that by warming up chocolate fondue on low on the stovetop, and then placing the chocolate in the fondue pot over three tealight candles, the fondue pot worked very well. (I put 12oz of Baker’s White Chocolate, 5 oz evaporated milk, and 1 tbsp of vanilla and baked in a saucepan on low for about 4-5 minutes, and it made an excellent fondue).

If you are concerned about recipes, I have found multiple yummy recipes online. They also make many different books that can be purchased via amazon.com, such as:

The 125 Best Fondue Recipes — by Ilana Simon; Paperback

Fabulous Fondues — by Fred It’s Fun to Fondue Kerner; Paperback

The Book of Fondues — by Lesley MacKley, Leslie MacKley; Paperback

Put in a search for fondue and 60 books come up as of February 2003.
