Can you use a fondue set as a deep fryer?

Says it all in the question. I know you can use a fondue set to do fry style fondue cooking but I’m talking about frying up wings or fries or other things that have nothing to do with fondue. I don’t see why not, but I’m surprised I haven’t found the info on the net and was wondering if anyone has tried or knows. Thank you.
Well the fondue set I have can fill 3 quarts (that’s huge), and has a temperature control up to 400 degrees (350-375 needed for frying). I dont plan on started a mickie d’s with this thing. Even if i have to cook two wings at a time or w/e. Simple question, can it do it or not?

No. I would not. The construction of a fondue pot is not heavy enough for bigger pieces of food, or the lengthier cooking it requires. It would be very dangerous.

  • Love Noodle:

No. Won’t get to the temperature needed to deep-fry.

    NO

I couldn’t see why not you just wouldn’t be able to put as many items in the fryer as you can with a regular deep fryer, and you would have to be very careful that your fondue oil doesn’t overflow if you intend on frying in front of the TV because you can catch something on fire.
